Based in Kuramae, this speciality store focuses on the art of writing, carrying a range of stationery including notebooks, writing implements, ink and letter sets. We particularly love their signature Kakimori Order-Made Notebook – you select your desired elements and they’ll bind up your very own unique notebook in about 10 minutes.

Goat

The owner of this store in Okachimachi is a graphic designer known for his work on the popular Tokyo notebook brand LIFE. Look out for the popular Mascohanko original stamps with playful retro designs that include illustrations and the messages like ‘OK’, ‘Thank you’, ‘Love’, and ‘Invoice enclosed’. Note that credit cards are not accepted.

K.Itoya

Itoya is a long-established stationery store with a history in Ginza that goes back more than 100 years. This branch is near to their main store and offers something slightly different – instead of everyday stationery, it’s lined with high-end writing tools, art supplies and picture frames. We recommend their beautiful fountain pens, found on the second floor.

Giovanni Kichijoji Store

Specialising in imported goods, this store can be found on Nakamichi Street in Kichijoji. It feels almost like a museum, filled with art objects and old-school European stationery sourced directly from Italy (think seal stamps, quill pens, bookplates and parchment). Nearly all the items on sale are made in Europe.
