“Hyotei” is believed to have started as a tea shop in Nanzenji, Kyoto over 400 years ago. Its tea room with a thatched roof and entrance have remnants of origination days. Kyoto cuisine restaurant “Uosaburou” is located a few minute’s walk away from Fushimi-Momoyama Station. Takeshigerou(京懐石 美濃吉 竹茂楼)

Walking for a few minute from Higashiyama Station, you will see “Kyoto Cuisine Takesigerou” in fresh green bamboos. In 1716, the founder Minokichi opened a tea shop near the Sanjo-Bridge. and, after a while, it got turned to a river-fish restaurant. In the latter half of Edo era, it was recognized as the last one of the eight licenced restaurants to save fresh water fish. And now, in “Takeshigerou”, you can appreciate the essence of Kyoto traditional full-course cuisine including well-known dishes of river-fish like “Ayu”, “Unagi”(eel), and “Suppon”(soft-shelled turtle) There are also private rooms, but interestingly, they have respectively different concepts. In each rooms, you can see bambooes from the window, tasting seasonal cuisine and traditional works.
